INTERACTIVE MEDIA LAB:
DESIGNING THE FUTURE

OPENING SPRING 2025:
Cleveland Institute of Art’s innovation studio for the 21st century

Envision creating a groundbreaking animation in an extended reality (XR) studio, or developing the next big video game and testing it in an in-house arcade. Now imagine using augmented reality (AR) to create prototypes of innovative new products, or employing virtual reality (VR) to build or customize vehicle designs in a 3D environment.

These opportunities—and many others—will come to life at the Cleveland Institute of Art's Interactive Media Lab (IML).

The IML invites you to pursue your creative passion using leading-edge technology. You’ll be immersed in the state-of-the-art, aspire to achieve your artistic vision, collaborate with the community and industry professionals, launch new entrepreneurial ventures and inspire neighboring communities to join you.

This is what the future of art and design looks like. Experience it at CIA.

The Interactive Media Lab is for All

Clevelanders of all ages will step into the IML and be invited to learn, create and play using many of the same cutting-edge XR, AR and VR technologies as CIA students. They'll also engage in innovative programs and participate in free community events. CIA embraces its role as a community partner.

By also serving as a hub for industry professionals, the IML will foster new, catalytic partnerships that will create jobs and raise Cleveland's profile as a center of innovation and entrepreneurship. The IML will be open to industry partners for space rentals, equipment rentals, training, guided experiences and consulting, but most importantly, it will be open to new ideas and new ways of doing business.
